Two girls die after cars hits family crossing Birmingham road
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-33224036
This article was about a tragic incident in which two sisters died after being knocked down by a car. The 34 year old man was released on bail for dangerous driving. The mother and brother of the six and seven year old sisters are in critical condition in hospital.
In my opinion the man should be charged and put in prison for dangerous driving and should be tested for drug or alcohol influence.

My idea is to do the 'how are ginger haired people represented within the media'
I will look at the way different actors are portrayed
How they are used within advertisements
If they are portrayed different to other hair colours and why
Will interview ginger people
US shark attacks: Teenagers injured off North Carolina coast
Two teenagers have been badly injured in separate shark attacks at a popular seaside resort in the United States.
A 14 year old girl was mauled while swimming off Oak Island in North Carolina on Sunday whilst a 16 year old boy was attacked on the same stretch of beach less than two hours later. Both victims suffered limb losses. The article says that they were contemplating shutting the beach to the public.
In my opinion I believe that after the first attack the beach should have been shut off as there were obviously sharks within the area. The first attack should have been enough for life guards to close the beach off and therefore the second attack would not have even happened.
Dean Potter was an extreme sportsman who died with a friend in an illegal BASE jump in Yosemite National Park. I wasn't sure of the word BASE and its meaning so I searched for the definition. BASE stands for Building, Antenna, Span and Earth. BASE jumpers will leap from any and all of these four fixed objects with parachutes designed specifically for rapid deployment.
Potter was well known for his dangerous bare-hand climbs up some of the worlds most terrifying cliffs and walls, usually without the use of ropes to assist and be safe. Previously Potter had stated that his intentions had been to "get people out of their cars and experience the wild with all their senses".
This article titled 'Election 2015: Sturgeon says Cameron must go further
on devolution' is about how Nicola Sturgeon wants a good deal on
fiscal autonomy. Personally I am not very into politics so don't really
understand it but the link above explains more about it.
This is an article that I
find more interesting. The awards, hosted
by Graham Norton, are being held at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, London, and
will be shown on BBC One from 20:00 BST. Broadcaster and critic Clive
James will be honoured at the event, as will Channel 4 News journalist Jon
Snow. The article features information of different celebrities arriving at the
awards show. The red carpet
pictures show their expensive and glamorous outfits.

Coursework initial idea
for a teen horror/supernatural TV series.
For my media television series I have chosen
to create a series that is called ‘Solitary’. The series is about 6 friends who
decide to visit a theme park on the last day before it closes for the winter
season. The group of young adults are university students so they decided to go
to the theme park in celebration of their Christmas holidays beginning. The
group of friends are all adventurous and mischievous hence why they get on so
well with each other. Because of the sun going down earlier on in the day
during the winter season, the theme park closes earlier, however they did not
know this as they had visited the theme park numerous times before within the
summer season. As the theme park was dark, the group of friends start to
question as to why no more rides are running and there seems to be no one
around them. All of their phones had run out of battery as they had been there
all day and they could not find anyone within the theme park. That is when they
realised they must be locked in the theme park. None of their families knew
they had visited the theme park however they knew they would be returning home
for Christmas sometime soon. As the evening pushes on in the theme park, the
area gets a lot more cold and spooky. They occasionally hear unnatural noises
and think they are seeing supernatural sightings. As the group become more and
more worried and desperate for food they might even turn to each other as a
food source to compete in the fight for survival. I could play with this whole
idea by adding more challenges and horror scenarios. I could also add more
ghosts and supernatural things.
Audience: My target audience is 16-20 year olds. I aim
to have females as my audience however obviously males might be interested in
the programme too.
Setting: My teen horror is set in a run-down theme
park during the winter season. Leaves are on the floor and rain is very
frequent. The whole theme park is gloomy during the winter season and not very
well lit as the dark approaches earlier in the day. The theme park contains
many rides however they are old fashioned and rusty. The theme park also
contains a few fast food restaurants, sweet shops and merchandise shops. The
theme park is surrounded by a lake and there is a bridge to access the park.
During the winter the bridge is blocked off as the theme park closes.
Sound: Music and sound effects would be added to make
the scene set and to make it more dramatic and tense. Different moments
will need different music. Tense moments will need a dramatic sounding audio and
spooky moments will need a creepy sounding audio.
Character development: Grace, Hannah, Katie, James,
Richard and Fred are my main characters.
Grace is 17, average height and slim figure with big
curly blonde hair. She comes across as dumb however she has excellent ideas and
helps the group get out of a lot of difficult situations.
Hannah is 18, tall and skinny, fairly lanky. Hannah
has dark brown long hair and tends to be dressed in black clothing. Hannah is
inquisitive and brave and really loves adventures however can be very lair back
and not show this adventurous side to her.
Katie is 17, short and slim, she has a shoulder length
light brown hair. Katie is a very anxious person and is always looking out for
others. With Katie, safety is always first and she plans everything before it
happens. She is the mum of the group.
James is 17, average height and slightly chubby. James
is bossy and always seems to think he is correct in all situations. He rarely
is. James likes to take charge and tries to be the 'alpha male' of the group.
Richard is 18, tall and muscular. Richard looks like
he is very strong and brave, however he is a coward. He never wants to be
adventurous and tends to take the easy option is any scenario handed to him.
Fred is 18, tall and slim. Fred is rather nerdy and
loves to evaluate every situation with great precision, Fred is rarely wrong
but sometimes doesn't have the confidence to speak up in front of his friends.
He tends to keep quiet and follow the crowd to make life that little bit
simpler for him.
Episodes: Each episode would be 40 minutes
long airing once a week. The name of the first episode would be ‘The day out
that never ended’. The first episode would start off with the audience getting
to know the characters so they can suss who is who and get an idea of what each
characters personality is like. They would start off all getting into a taxi to
the theme park. Inside the taxi would be discussions and memories shared about
their first term at university. They would be talking about what rides they are
excited about and joking around. They would arrive at the theme park and be
enjoying their day. Then the gates would shut and everything goes downhill. The
episode would consist of them panicking and urgently on the hunt for anyone
else within the park, but instead, they come across supernatural sightings.
Other episodes would continue the nightmare
unfolding and feature lots of different plot twists and romance stories. Plot
twists such as missing members of the friendship group and supernatural
behaviour around the park. The different friendships and relationships would
change a lot as the individuals are pushed to their limits and boundaries
within the theme park.
Development of
pre-production.
How can you enrich your narrative?
I will enrich my narrative I will make the
audience wonder what’s is going to happen. I won’t give away plot twists as I want
them to be really dramatic and shock the audience to make them want to carry on
watching.
What elements can you add to bring your
characters alive?
To bring my characters alive I will make sure
each characters personality really stands out and they are known for being a
certain way. I want the audience to love some characters and dislike some
characters to really make them feel involved with the series.
How will you actively seek to serve your
chosen audience?
I will serve my chosen audience making sure I include
aspects that the age range of 16-20 year olds typically are interested in. They
tend to love gossip and drama as they like being involved with it all. I would
also make sure to include romance and dramatic changes throughout to keep my
audience wanting to watch more.
Production proposal – Poster.
My poster consists of an abandoned theme park
with a big font written across it which is the name of my series, ‘Solitary’. I
kept it simple with that font as it looks old and abandoned which seems to
represent the situation they are in. The blood hand prints show mystery and
give a sense of horror within the series. I like this design because it’s
simple yet effective.
More production ideas – Merchandise.
This T-Shirt is a simple way to advertise the
TV series. Fans and viewers of the show may buy this product and wear it out
and about, others will see it and maybe go and watch the series themselves,
therefore increasing the number of views.
This phone case for Solitary is a simple phone
case, the plain white background makes the red blood handprints stand out and
the black title stand bold. A phone case is a good idea to sell because it is a
popular item that people of my target audience age range use.
Miley Cyrus is well known for her sudden and drastic change. She seemed to quickly go from sweet country singing girl who followed in the footsteps of her well known father, to pop singer with no fear. Her first album cover shows a sweet and innocent Miley Cyrus with a simple photo of her face laying down. This is to show Miley Cyrus as a person so they needed to use a photo of her face so people can associate her music with her. It was sort of her introduction into the music industry. Her most recent album cover for her album 'Bangerz', shows a very stripped back Miley, she still seems to look innocent in the face despite the fact shes nude and covering her breasts with her arms. Miley and her managers probably knew this was going to capture peoples attention making the album sell. Her new look is cleary shown on this album cover with her long hair gone and her 'good girl' aesthetic leaving her.
Anti UKIP protesters have invaded a pub in South London where party leader Nigel Farage was having lunch with his family. The protest organiser Dan Glass said the group was in fancy dress to stage a 'cabaret of diversity'. Some of the costumes were migrants, HIV activists, gay people, disabled people and breastfeeding mothers. They surrounded his car as he left the pub.
I think this was a good way to get publicity onto this situation. They staged a protest to capture the public eye and because of this they are now all over the news, becoming a 'top story' on BBC News and therefore have the publicity they wanted and needed from this protest.
The computer gaming industry starts out back in the 1950s
however it did not reach popularity until the 1970s and 1980s when they were
introduced into the general public. In 1952 Alexander S Douglas made the first
ever computer games to use an electronic graphical display. OXO, which is also
known as noughts and crosses was the game. The game was brought out in the
United Kingdom at Cambridge University.
The first video games were developed in the 1950s. In 1958,
a game called Tennis for Two, was made by Willy Higinbotham, a physicist working
at the Brookhaven National Laboratory. In 1961, a mainframe computer game
called ‘Spacewar!’ was developed by a group of Massachusetts Institute of
Technology students led by Steve Russell. Commercial game development began in
1970s with the advent of first generation video game consoles and home
computers. In 1971, Computer space was the first commercially sold, coin
operated video game. In 1972, the first home console system was released called
‘Magnavox Odyssey, developed by Ralph H. Baer. By 1987 a game required 12
months to develop and another six months to plan marketing. During the 1980s,
pre-production involved sketches and test routines of the only developer. In
the 1990s, pre-production consisted mostly of game art previews. In the early
2000s, pre-production usually produced a playable demo.
According to the third annual Game Developer Census by Game
Developer Research, which covers North American game companies, the games
industry employed 44,806 people in 2009. And that’s in America, not worldwide.
There is not a worldwide figure to go buy when I did the research into this.

Kennel Club 'shocked and saddened' at Crufts dog's death
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-31795927
This article is about a shocking death at the annual famous dog show, Crufts. A quote from the article says, 'There is "no doubt" a prize-winning Irish Setter was "maliciously poisoned" at Crufts, one of his owners has said.' This raises suspicions as to whether dog shows are safe and fair for the dogs competing.

Demographic information is used in media marketing to classify an audience into age, race, gender and other categories.
Demographics are broken into bands depending on people's jobs or status.
Psychographic segmentation divides the markets into groups based on social class, lifestyle and personality characteristics. It is based on the assumption that the types of products and brands an individual purchases will reflect the persons characteristics and patterns of living.
Visual codes – Throughout the clean bandit music video, many
visual codes are shown. When the video starts we can tell it is set in Japan.
They preview images of the Koi pond and use of Japanese writing to set the
scene and give the idea.
At the beginning of the video there are these four shapes on
her bed linen. Throughout the video if you pay attention closely these shapes will
keep appearing throughout the whole video. These four shapes are not really
explained however there are four members of the band so it could be something
to do with that.
Technical codes – Throughout the video the video is filmed
using a variety of shots. They use the camera shots very cleverly to make you
really understand the atmosphere of the surroundings.
Narrative – The storyline of the music video is slightly
confusing. The woman is just listening to this song and lip syncing to it and
walking throughout japan.
Vogue –
Visual codes – Vogue very cleverly use colours that are
appealing to they eye. Especially the female eye, as women are most likely to
be their target audience.Each magazine
they use a different model for the front cover. They mainly use celebrities for
their front cover, which attracts the magazine audience because they want to
find out more information about the celebrity. They use little subtitles to
entice the audience into buying the magazine.
Birdman poster –
Visual codes – The stern expression represents the
seriousness of the film poster. I haven’t personally seen the film so I am
guessing what the film is about by looking at the poster. The poster features a
birdman on top of his head.
